The Doors & Jim Morrison

Lizard King In All His Greatness

On December 8. 1943 was born one of the most influential persons in psychedelic rock, Jim Morrison. It's a day to enjoy the psychedelic, mind boggling music of The Doors. Founded 1965, by Ray Manzarek & Jim Morrison. The Door's debut album in 1967 and the famous live appearance. the same year on The Ed Sullivan show made them instantly into made them instantly into the talk of the town.
It was followed up by "Strange Days" (1967) & "Waiting for the Sun" (1968) which were both best sellers. "Waiting for the Sun" marked the first appearance of Jim Morrison alter ego Lizard King. Morrison was considered as sage, who achieved the ultimate level of self exploration. His stage exhibitionism earned him a certain notoriety and a couple of arrests. Even though "The Soft Parade" was far more elaborately produced, it met a split reaction by the fans.
Meanwhile Morrison started indulging more and more into personal projects and in 1989 Wilderness: The Lost Writings of Jim Morrison was published. Critcs mocked the album fullheartedly and leached onto him, mocking his actions more often, than not. Thus came "Morrison Hotel" which silenced all the rumors of The Doors selling. The general response was something of "without any doubt their ballsiest (and best) album to date".
To finish up the story came "L.A Woman" Jim Morrison's last scream to the audience.Staying with his wife Pamela Concourse in Paris he died of heart failure in his bathtub in 1971 at the age of 27. His time on the Earth was short but significant and thus today is the day to celebrate the life of Jim Morrison and his legacy.
